I was homeschooled my entire life, but my first two jobs were teaching in schools!
I have written three novels and published poems and short stories. I also love history and geography.
My favorite sport (and the only way I like to get exercise!) is swimming.

About Me

I am a senior child development and interdisciplinary studies major at Texas Christian University. I have been on the Dean's Honor roll every semester and won the 2023 Karyn Purvis Award for Outstanding Achievement. Someday, I hope to become a certified counselor and work with children, possibly as a school counselor.

Experience

After high school, I spent two years working at a small private school in Pennsylvania. I taught kindergarten the first year and tutored/worked with resource room students the second year. During my first two years of college, I worked with K-2nd graders at an after-school program, which included homework help and educational activities.

Approach

Being homeschooled has given me the mindset that learning happens everywhere, not just in the classroom. When I work with students, I try to be patient and encouraging, giving lots of praise for every small achievement. At the same time, I try to challenge students to work hard and reach their full potential. I believe every child can learn and make progress, and that process can be enjoyable too!
