About Me

I graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia May of 2022 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Sociology, a minor in Women's Studies, and a certificate in Diversity Studies while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

Experience

From September 2022 to June 2023, I worked in a Title 1 High School in Norfolk, Virginia as an English and History intervention specialist/tutor. I assessed students' needs and devised personalized learning plans to address their academic challenges. I facilitated tailored tutoring sessions to enhance comprehension and skill development in English and Science which resulted in an overall 15% increase in students passing the state exam.

The best tutoring approach combines personalized guidance, clear communication, and active engagement. Tailoring sessions to individual learning styles and needs while using relatable examples and visuals enhance understanding. Encouraging students to actively participate in problem-solving and providing opportunities for practice cultivates mastery.
