About Me

I am a recently retired Texas public school teacher. I retired after teaching 20 years at a local high school. I hold an MA in History with a concentration in Early and Modern European History from the University of Texas at Tyler. I also received my B.S. in History with a minor in Secondary Education from UT-Tyler. I have been married for over 35 years and we have two daughters and four grandsons. I enjoy traveling in the U.S. and Europe, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

Experience

I taught on-level World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics at a local high school. I also taught AP U.S. History, AP World History, AP European History, AP Macroeconomics, and AP U.S. Government and Politics. Every summer for the last 7 years, I have also participated in the AP Summer Reading. This entails reading the student-written essays and scoring them according to the College Board guidelines.

Approach

As a parent of a child with ADHD, I watched my daughter experience the frustration of not performing well on certain tasks - such as standardized testing. I believe every student can learn, it is just finding the way they learn best. Every person learns in a unique way.
