I am a Learning Scientist by training and love to continue to understand the varied ways in which we come to make meaning for the world.

About Me

I am a trained teacher, school leader, and international development expert. For the past 8 years, I have worked internationally, developing teachers and school leaders in education technology approaches to education.

Experience

Have worked in education since 1991 when I joined Teach for America. In 1993, I became president of TFA's national faculty and in 1995 became principal of a school I co-designed with teachers. School design became my passion and I've since designed 30 schools in NYC, including the internationally acclaimed Quest to Learn School, a grades 6-12 games-based school in Chelsea, NYC. I have been fortunate to work for Bill and Melinda Gates at the Foundation for 5 years and more recently at the Teach

Approach

School was a daze for me until high school when I met kids from NYC's village neighborhood whose parents allowed them to experiment, fail, and try again, and to dream of the world as it could otherwise be. Today those kids are world leaders across the globe and continue to be my closest colleagues and friends.
