Fun Facts
I once taught a Summer class to high schoolers on making computer games. For an unlikely reason, they told me, "You're Batman!" (I'm really not.)
About Me
I grew up in Paris. (The one with the Eiffel Tower and the Disney resort.) I've lived in Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Montreal, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco. I've always loved both computers and fiction. I don't have a French accent in English.
Experience
I've been programming professionally for about twenty years now. Because my interests are so wide, I've done a lot of different things. But, in the end, my work tends to focus mostly on Python, web applications, and game engines. My main OS is Linux and, no, it doesn't have to be difficult to use, and yes, it really is an amazing system. But you have to learn it to make the most of it.
Approach
Several things are important. First, it's essential to be in an environment where getting things wrong is not just okay, but a stepping stone to understanding. At the same time, following best practices is indispensable to make sure your work lasts. And knowing how to look things up is important for lasting progress.
As for practicing French, it's more useful to learn French as a language that is fun and interesting in its own way than as a language that's useful. Comics are a great way to star
