About Me
I have recently received my MS Chemistry degree from Western Washington University (GPA = 3.9) and hope to pursue a career in Medicinal and/or Analytical Chemistry. I gratefully received the 2023 Outstanding Chemistry Graduate Student award and am excited to use my skillsets to pursue my favorite topics surrounding selective organic reactions and instrumental analysis.
Experience
During my Master's program, I had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate courses: General Chemistry I/III, Analytical Chemistry, and Instrumental Analysis. I assisted students with understanding course content through data analysis, providing constructive feedback on graded assessments, and implementing proper lab techniques. I also have experience tutoring high school Chemistry, Algebra, and Spanish I, focusing on homework help and test preparation.
Approach
A past instructor instilled the concept of a growth mindset into my educational experience, inspiring an empowering mantra when faced with major academic challenges. I grew to learn the most after experiencing a bit of constructive struggle, growing from the creative application of fresh, new skills in various ways without fear of failure. After assisting many students as a TA, I coined a catchphrase: "Small amounts of struggle leads to important learning. Major struggle leads to frustration."
