Fun Facts

I moved from Frederick, Maryland to Denver, Colorado last year because I love hiking and camping. Colorado is a beautiful state. I come from a large Deaf family. I am the last of 8 Deaf children except CODA (child of Deaf adults). He is an interpreter.

About Me

I have two masters: Elementary Education at McDaniel College and Sign Language Education at Gallaudet University. I want to use my skills and knowledge to tutor a student who wants to learn ASL and Deaf Culture.

Experience

I have been teaching ASL for over 25 years at high school and college (mostly). I taught ASL face to face from 1998 to 2020 and I taught ASL online since 2020. I started tutoring/mentoring students in 2022 summer through takelessons.com. I enjoy working with a student who has a passion for learning ASL and Deaf Culture.

Approach

Approaches: Natural, communicative Language teaching and interactive. My teaching will promote students to develop receptive/expressive skills & communicative skills. I use visual aids such as PowerPoint slides or pictures to introduce ASL vocabulary. Interactive activities: Pair/group dialogue practices & drawing activities. Individual presentation on a variety of topics such as family.
