Fun Facts
I enjoy being active, mostly hiking and running. I like to sign up for races to keep myself motivated. My pit mix rescue is my best running buddy when she isn't tripping me trying to chase neighborhood cats, it's like running with a traveling obstacle course. I also enjoy crafting, reading mystery novels, and conquering new vegetarian cooking challenges.
About Me
I am completing my Master's of Biology at Villanova University where I am currently finishing a thesis about bird behavior. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Conservation from the delaware">University of Delaware with minors in Biology and Education. As an undergrad I was able to earn Dean's list grades while being on the crew team and working at the gym. I've enjoyed internships and jobs involving environmental education. I hope to continue in this field for a career.
In high school I participated in an after school reading enrichment program for elementary school students. As a graduate teaching assistant I was available to the undergraduates as a resource for extra help in class. I also have experience tucson">tutoring a high school sophomore in several subjects including language arts, world studies, and algebra. I also helped him with general organization and time management.
I've always seen tucson">tutoring as an opportunity to help students build skills along with teaching them material. I want to make sure they are doing everything they can before I intervene, for example reading all of the instructions and taking a first pass on their own. If there is something a student doesn't understand I have them explain their thought process so I can understand how they see it and can help correct any misunderstanding. I also realize the same study methods don't work for every single subject and you have to customize your methods to the subject matter and knowledge base.
