Fun Facts
While I work with rare books and studied 19th-century literature in college, I also have a true love for juvenile fiction! My favorites are I, Coriander, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, and The Secret Garden.
About Me
Currently, I work as an assistant for the Rare Books & Manuscripts department at a famous auction house. This work is my passion, and I am very lucky to be able to hone my skills in historical research, writing, bibliography, and art history every day. New York City is a new place for me, having only lived here a few years. I grew up in a small country town in Northern California where I spent most of my time reading or creating imaginary worlds while roaming the mountains, valleys, and lakes in my area.
Experience
As a California State Scholar in High School, I tutored students across subjects for the final few years before college. In my sophomore year at Occidental College, I became an inter-disciplinary writing tutor where I was not only instructed in contemporary tutoring practices but also engaged with a variety of subject matter and writing styles. I worked at the Writing Center for three years and gained wonderful connections and knowledge while there.
Approach
Since I started working in the antiquarian book trade a few years ago, I've come to appreciate the significance of early reading as a way to foster a passion for learning. During my childhood, I spent most of my time pouring over novels, which fueled my imagination and transported me to various worlds, historical eras, and fantastical realms. Reading books instilled in me a sense of curiosity and a mission to delight in education, and I hope to encourage others to do the same.
