Fun Facts

I am a music enthusiast who loves the outdoors and animals. If I'm nowhere to be found, I'm most likely at or near a dog park. I love to travel in my spare time; the most beautiful place I've been to is Colorado. I'm also a vegan and love to cook new recipes for friends and family. I played basketball in college and have always loved being a part of a team. My mom has a miniature animal farm with a donkey, two horses, and a pony that I often help take care of. We are currently looking for goats.

About Me

I received my Associate of Liberal Arts from San Antonio College in 2020. Pre-COVID I tutored college students studying to become education majors. Post-COVID I worked as a preschool teacher at First Presbyterian Church. I taught Pre-K 3 and learned more from my students than I could possibly teach them. Teaching, tutoring, and mentoring have always been a passion of mind. Recently I decided to further my educational career and reenrolled for my Bachelor’s in English and Creative Writing at UH.

Experience

In college, I had the opportunity to tutor education majors for field experience. I also worked for an Agency called Care.com where I was assigned a few families ranging from ages 2-17. I provided homework assistance for basic skills and all subject areas. Prior to tutoring, I was an exceptional babysitter, hence steered me in the direction of Childcare and Education. In my most recent teaching position, I was equipped with conscious teaching skills that have positively impacted many kids today.

Approach

As a child, I excelled in school and was recommended on most of my reading and mathematics standardized testing. I am interested in helping children achieve goals and strive for success but implementing skills I have learned to achieve those same goals. It is important not only to teach the material but to connect with the students so that they can learn how to teach themselves. Comprehension is one of my main focuses in the classroom being that many misunderstandings come from miscommunication.
