Fun Facts
I am a children’s book author and coloring book creator. I love to vacation and photos in my spare time.
About Me
My name is Tierra Jones. I am originally from Cleveland, MS, and one of the youngest of seven siblings. I knew at a young age that I had a passion for educating scholars. I often played “Teacher” with my siblings and cousins because of my love for teaching. My passion comes from wanting students to love to learn as much as I do. I wholeheartedly believe that learning is a life-long process. You can never grow too old to learn something new. As an advocate for education, I am dedicated to teaching children to read. I believe that literacy is the foundation of all learning; if a child can read, they can do anything!
I graduated from Northwest Community College with an Associate’s degree in 2016. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. I have been teaching for 9 years with a focus on early elementary education with a focus on helping scholars learn to read. I have taught at different education institutes in the Greater Memphis area including daycares and learning centers (Pre-K), public education with SCS District (3-8), and charter school (K-2).
My main goal is to ensure that every child reads on grade level. I strive to make a difference by teaching tomorrow’s leaders and appreciate the opportunity to continue guiding scholars.
Experience
I have taught at different education institutes in the Greater Memphis area including daycares and learning centers (Pre-K), public education with SCS District (3-8), charter school (K-2), and Non-Profits (America Reads Challenge: 7-8th grade; Memphis Literacy Corps: 3-5th grade).
Approach
As a child, I struggled with reading during my elementary years. I am grateful to have had great educators and tutors in my life. I have been fortunate enough to be able to provide high-quality instruction to scholars in Tennessee. I love teaching scholars and helping them reach their highest potential.
