I absolutely LOVE reading and writing in my free time. Another passion of mine is music, especially the oldies. I also love traveling; my favorite place I have been to is Sydney, Australia. When the weather is nice, I enjoy hiking and biking because I like nature and being outside. Another one of my hobbies is baking; my specialty is vanilla pudding chocolate chip cookies!
About Me
I am a Junior at Loyola chicago">University of Chicago, and I am majoring in Psychology with a minor in English and Spanish. When I graduate, I hope to go to graduate school to get my Master in Psychology at Northwestern University. I ultimately want to become a School Psychologist.
In high school, I had the opportunity to be a Catechist at my church. I taught Confirmation to 8th grade students during my Junior and Senior years. In college, I wanted to work more with struggling students; I got this opportunity by volunteering at Arbor View Elementary School. There, I worked with preschoolers and kindergardeners in special ed, and also helped chicago">tutor older children in reading and writing. As a part of the Frog chicago">Tutoring team, I am excited to chicago">tutor and mentor so that I can help make a difference.
Growing up with a mom who is a teacher and a sister who has a learning disability, I have experienced first hand the different approaches to learning and how learning is unique to the individual. School can be difficult because it is taught at one pace, and each person learns at their own speed and has their own style of learning. As a chicago">tutor, I believe it is important to help students succeed through getting to know them and teaching them in a way that relates to them and is suited to their unique style of learning. When chicago">tutoring, I believe it is important to teach concepts in new and creative ways, allowing the student to truly understand the material without being given the answer and receiving positive feedback and motivation. I also teach study skills and organizational skills that help give students the confidence to succeed!
