Fun Facts
Once people find out I have a deaf sister and that I know American Sign Language, they suddenly want to start learning ASL, as well. In addition, I spent seven seasons with the Opera Memphis Chorus, performing on stage at The Orpheum. I enjoy talking about my experiences as an opera performer when given the opportunity.
About Me
Recently, I was hired as an independent tutor with Grade Position In-Home Tutoring to work with students 5K-Senior High, plus college. I find many rewards in helping others, but especially in teaching and assisting those who struggle to understand and are having difficulties with reading, writing, and other topics within the Humanities. I am a voracious reader and love to write, so I want others to learn to find joy in reading and writing, as well.
Experience
Through the Center for Writing and Communication at the memphis">University of Memphis, I have vast experience helping college students improve their writing skills, plus comprehend literature. I also have experience tutoring deaf students, and other special needs children within the Shelby County School system.
Approach
Since I was always frustrated by math at all levels, I have a great deal of empathy for students who struggle with reading, spelling, and literacy comprehension. It is so hard to endure school life when you are lacking in one or more of your academic topics. I want to help students not feel left behind by their peers in class.
