Fun Facts
I love painting, writing, bookmaking, birds, and walking.
About Me
I am currently an MFA candidate in Studio Art at Queens College, a Fellow with Social Practice CUNY, and a Teaching Artist with Community Word Project and the Imogen Roche Foundation. In practice, I create alternate selves through painting, bookmaking, and writing, and I facilitate drawing and writing experiments with young adults to develop their confidence and autonomy. I am invested in the liberating potential of independent learning for students.
Experience
I spent several years working as an Advocate Counselor in a public transfer high school in Queens. I recently taught English/Language Arts at Fusion Academy Brooklyn, and I am now a Teaching Artist with two arts-in-school organizations.
Approach
When I start each day as an educator, I remind myself that learning experiences aren’t fixed. I hold space for ways of reading, writing, and art-making that are driven by emotion, and I’m helping my students to own their agency in learning and exploration.
