About Me
As a tutor, my approach is centered around creating an engaging, personalized learning experience that caters to each student’s unique needs and goals. Here’s a breakdown of my teaching methods, typical lesson plans, what sets me apart, and the types of students I work with:
Personalized Learning: I begin by assessing the student’s current knowledge and learning style. This helps in tailoring the lessons to address specific strengths, weaknesses, and interests.
Active Engagement: I employ interactive techniques such as problem-solving exercises, discussions, and real-world applications. This keeps students engaged and helps them understand concepts deeply.
Scaffolded Learning: I build on prior knowledge and gradually introduce more complex topics. This step-by-step approach helps students gain confidence and master each concept before moving on.
Feedback and Reflection: I provide constructive feedback and encourage students to reflect on their learning. This helps them identify areas for improvement and track their progress.
Varied Resources: I use a mix of textbooks, online resources, multimedia, and hands-on activities to cater to different learning styles and make the material more accessible and interesting.
Typical Lesson Plan
Introduction (5-10 minutes): Brief review of the previous lesson or a quick overview of the day’s topic. I set clear objectives for what we’ll cover in the session.
Instruction (15-20 minutes): Presentation of new concepts using explanations, demonstrations, and examples. I encourage questions and provide opportunities for students to engage actively with the material.
Practice (20-25 minutes): Guided practice where students work on exercises or problems with my support. I provide immediate feedback and clarify any misunderstandings.
Application (10-15 minutes): Students apply what they’ve learned to new problems or scenarios. This helps solidify their understanding and shows how concepts are used in different contexts.
Wrap-Up
Experience
I have been teaching for 17 years now, both in person and virtually. I have worked with colleagues, friends, relatives, peers, and of course, students of all ages, including adults. I like the challenge of something new.
Approach
Learning can be challenging at least. A challenge is something you take on and defeat. Languages can be challenging but approaching with a clear and concise process can really drive good results home and fast. I like to break things down and isolate the easy and the difficult and then tackle each one piece by piece.
