One fact that people know about me is I LOVE❤️TEACHING! Watching my students excel academically and socially is so very rewarding. As a former Fort Worth ISD educator, I was nominated Campus Teacher of the Year in 2017. What a prestigious honor. I also enjoy traveling with family and friends!
About Me
I am a retired educator who is truly dedicated to the field of education. Furthermore, I believe teaching is about motivating all students to enjoy learning with an opportunity to succeed. Core values of responsibility, mutual respect, honesty and compassion are vital as an individual and educator. In addition, I received my Master of Science in Elementary Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Experience
I have 33+ years of teaching expertise. The majority of my classroom experiences involved working with students in grades first-fourth. I have also worked for Sylvan Learning Center and a lead teacher for several childcare facilities. Education, training and past experiences have equipped me to meet the challenges of working in a diverse and multicultural setting.
Approach
I utilize a variety of teaching methodologies. Students learn in different ways. My teaching approach involves addressing the learning needs of my students and motivating them to reach their academic and social goals. I have learned through my many years in the field of education, motivated students are more open to learning and more manageable. My goal is to provide all students with an educationally challenging and fun learning experience!

I have over 25 years of teaching English working with students in grades 1st-4th. In addition, I received my
undergraduate degree from Midwestern State University
(Minor in English). My education, training and knowledge
has equipped me with the ability to help my students develop great oral and written communication skills,
effective listening skills, as well as enhancing their
organizational skills.
2nd Grade Math Tutoring
I have over 15 years of teaching experience educating 2nd grade math students. During my years of teaching second grade math, I have helped my students develop their math skills by intergrating hands-on activities, small
group instruction, technology, incorporating visual aids,
and many other strategies needed for academic success.
Making my math lessons motivational is very important.
3rd Grade Math Tutoring
I earned a Master's in Elementary Education from Texas
A&M University-Commerce. My education and past
experiences have prepared me to teach students how to
establish a solid foundation for understanding math concepts. My students are actively engaged in a positive
and nurturing environment. I educate my 3rd grade
students on basic/advanced math operations, problem-solving skills, help them establish realistic math goals,
use logical reasoning, verbalize math problems with
confidence, and most of all learn to love math!
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have over twenty years of teaching experience in reading comprehension. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to work for Sylvan Learning as a reading tutor. A few of my reading comprehension techniques include game-based methods, student-centered approach, individual instruction, allow the student to read something of interests, ask the student to summarize their reading selection, monitor and observe their understanding of the reading material, ability to recall and review information accurately, understanding vocabulary words, use of technology and other reading resources.
Reading Tutoring
I have a passion for reading. Teaching my students to enjoy and explore various types of literature is vital. It is important that I help my students develop goals for
reading, prior knowledge, phonemic awareness, enjoy listening/reading orally, reading games/technology, comprehension skills, developing fluency, enhance their knowledge of context clues and vocabulary usage. I use a variety of reading strategies to meet the needs and individual learning styles of my students. My goal is to lead my students to become successful readers!
