About Me

I enjoy teaching, reading, learning, and being outdoors, with my dogs, my children, and my husband. I also enjoy playing cornhole, going to the beach, and riding my bike.

Experience

As a former education/virginia/virginia-beach">special education teacher, I have a great deal of experience teaching children who have been diagnosed with ADHD/ADD, anxiety, and specific learning disabilities. I believe in a multi-sensory approach when teaching students how to read. Reading, writing, science, and social studies are my favourite subjects to teach.

Approach

It is important to gain a trusting and respectful relationship with any student. There are many approaches on how to teach and learn. However, when allowed to build upon their own experiences and prior knowledge, students will succeed. I strongly believe it is vital to use positive reinforcement when demonstrated by a student. Encouraging your student not only creates confidence, but also the feeling of success.
