Fun Facts
I love rock climbing - both indoor sport climbing and outdoor adrenaline rushes! If you ever come to MetalMark in Fresno at night, you will probably see me there!
I also love Japanese architecture, food, and traditional ceremonies.
I also very much enjoy meeting and learning from people who come from different backgrounds than me - cultural differences can easily be strengths.
About Me
I graduated from Fresno State as a Pre-Law Philosophy major, with minors in Mathematics and Japanese, as well as two cultural competency certificates.
My overall GPA is 3.79, while my major GPA is 4.0.
This past year, I got an article published in the Fresno Bee (entitled "The less you understand, the more you fear"), I presented at a Philosophy Conference, and I organized and presented at a Symposium on Affirmative Action.

Experience
I have over four years of consistent experience and improvement in tutoring and mentoring roles spanning nearly every tutoring and mentoring program at Fresno State. I have come to know algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and differential equations inside and out. I also have three full summers worth of experience tutoring small groups and large classrooms of high school and middle school students, and younger students as well.
Approach
Here’s what I will deliver in this role: the facilitation of patient, effective, and lifelong-learning-focused experiences for my students. I make the learning process simple for my students by starting from what they know and working from there, while minimizing passive learning throughout the session by getting the student actively involved in concepts and problems. For example, I use the Socratic questioning method to move from what students know to further things that they can learn.
