Fun Facts
I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia. Some say I am a southern peach in the Big Apple!
About Me
Currently, I am a graduate student at Teachers College, Columbia University, where I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Health Education and Behavioral Sciences.
Experience
Prior to my graduate education, I was employed by Georgia College and State University’s Learning Center as a statistics tutor lead and undergraduate learning assistant. The Learning Center provides supplementary educational aid for students in the form of one-on-one tutoring, extra review and study sessions, and drop-in tutoring hours across 41 hours each week for a broad range of STEM subjects.
Approach
My teaching philosophy revolves around facilitating a growth mindset in students who may at first have a wavering credence on their academic ability. Many students feel that there are concepts that they will never be able to master, and it is my job as the tutor to provide them with strategies to combat a fixed mindset and instill confidence in the student regarding their abilities.
