About Me
Ileana Lopez Jimenez was born and raised in Puerto Rico and has lived in Texas since 2001. She graduated with a bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in management and an entrepreneurship certificate from houston">the houston">University of Houston in 2012. She went on to receive a master’s in business administration from the dallas">University of Dallas in 2015. Professionally, she has 10 years of higher education experience in the areas of admissions, advising, recruitment and retention, and executive administrative support. She was also an adjunct instructor who taught first-year students for two years. In 2019 she had a career change and became an insurance specialist working with mainly black women to get a minimally invasive fibroid treatment covered by national insurance companies. During this time, she did healthcare lobbying and advocacy work for women to get the treatment their doctors felt would best treat their symptoms. Once she achieved 90% insurance coverage for this minimally invasive treatment, she decided to transition her career again. She decided to work as an executive assistant and project manager for a surgical medical supply company. After 4 years working in the corporate field, she decided to go back to her passion, education. Ileana is currently a middle school Dual Language Spanish teacher. She is also a UIL coach and the Students Educating Diversity Through Dance (S.E.D.D.) Latin dance coach. Personally, she enjoys dancing, reading, and traveling to new places at least once a month with her family.
