Fun Facts
One of my favorite pastimes is exploring Greek and Roman mythology. I often find myself diving into these timeless tales whenever I can. A favorite of mine is the heartwarming story of Baucis and Philemon, an elderly couple who are rewarded by the gods for their kindness and transformed into intertwined trees as a symbol of their love and devotion.
About Me
I am a junior majoring in Latin at Western Michigan University. I've completed four semesters of Latin studies: two at WMU and two at Ripon College in Wisconsin. My goal is to pursue a career in papyrology, which is why I'm also studying Ancient Greek and plan to learn German next semester. After graduating, I hope to earn my master's degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Experience
I've organized and led Ancient Greek and Latin study sessions, providing guidance and answering questions. I created a Microsoft Teams group for discussions and support outside of class. My peers frequently turned to me for help in Latin class, and developed training material for the entire class such as flashcards etc.. My proficiency in reading and understanding Latin grammar earned me the Eunice Kraft award for excellence in Latin, showcasing my high level of skill and dedication.
Approach
My passion for Latin was sparked by teachers who made learning engaging and enjoyable. I strive to bring the same enthusiasm to tutoring, providing positive reinforcement and a supportive environment to help students build confidence and achieve their goals. I tailor my teaching methods to each student's needs, using flashcards and online resources to reinforce learning. My goal is to guide students through studying Latin with patience and understanding, making the process rewarding & effective.
