Fun Facts
Even though I’m very into STEM, I have a very big art background. I grew up loving to act, sing, and do art. For middle and high school, I went to Denver School of the Arts where I was a visual arts major and got to participate in two AP art portfolios. Other hobbies I have are that I love to sit outside, do makeup, do fashion, and watch anime:)
About Me
I have just completed my first year at Colorado State University as a mathematics major with a concentration in science/colorado/denver">computer science and a minor in merchandising. I am a very big advocate for intersecting STEM and other artistic mediums as well as creating an environment where students of color have more opportunities to feel inspired and uplifted to work in STEM fields.
Experience
After I struggled with math and then found love for it, I was always more than happy to help others in my various math classes going up to high school precalculus. I always helped and taught my younger siblings when ever I had the chance and called it "Yaya's Math Bootcamp" (Yaya is my family nickname lol) but it wasn't as intimidating as it sounds. More recently, I was a Learning Assistant for a trigonometry class in my second semester of college at Colorado State University.
Approach
Being an Afro-Latina, navigating the challenges of education difficult and illuminating. The pivotal moment occurred in my math class in sixth grade, where my dedication and perseverance helped me go from nervousness to overwhelming confidence. This experience changed my perspective on mathematics and sparked a passion that has motivated me to pursue a major in the field. As a tutor, I not only want to help you get better grades, but also help you gain that confidence!
