About Me
I am an adjunct professor of history at Rowan University and the Community College of Philadelphia. I have taught many United States, African American, Western, and World History courses. I have also taught College Composition and College Success.
Experience
I have previously tutored college and high school students online in Writing (including papers in a variety of subjects), English, English Literature, and History. I have also previously been a volunteer tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America.
Approach
Having myself faced and successfully overcome learning challenges with the help of teachers and tutors between elementary school and college, I proceed in tutoring with patient encouragement and positive reinforcement of key themes and concepts.

I have taught College Success at Union County College, and I have incorporated the teaching of study skills in a variety of courses that I have taught in my 18 years as a college and university professor.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Reading comprehension has been a centerpiece of my teaching for 18 years. As a History professor and tutor, I have emphasized the importance of critical reading skills.
History Advance Tutoring
I hold a B.A. with high distinction in History from the University of Virginia; I held a 3.67 GPA in my major and was awarded the Bernard Peyton Chamberlain Memorial Prize in History for the best undergraduate honors thesis. I hold an M.A. in History jointly from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and the New Jersey Institute of Technology; I had a 3.75 GPA there.
I have taught a variety of upper-level United States and European History courses and mentored students extensively in historiography and historical methods. I have tutored in History previously, including in upper-level courses. I have authored three online history encyclopedia articles and authored a number of original-research scholarly history papers.
History Tutoring
I have taught a variety of United States, African American, European, Western, and World History courses, both upper- and survey level, for 18 years. I have mentored students in critical thinking, reading, and writing skills relevant to History. I have also tutored History students.
English Tutoring
I was an English minor at the University of Virginia, where I attained my B.A.; my GPA in my minor was 3.73. I have taught College Composition at Kean University and have tutored English students. I have taught critical reading and writing skills and close reading relevant to English in all my courses for 18 years. I am highly versed in English composition, literature, and creative writing.
Religion Tutoring
I have taught about religion from a historical perspective in all my History courses. I have conducted scholarly research related to religion. As a result, I am knowledgeable and equipped to tutor on projects related to religion in general and to a wide variety of generals, including Abrahamic religions; Eastern philosophies and religions; ancient Near Eastern and Mediterranean religions; African traditional religions; Native American traditional religions; Wicca; and Neopaganism; among others.

Literature Tutoring
I was an English minor at the University of Virginia, where I attained my B.A.; my GPA in my minor was 3.73. My M.A. history thesis at Rutgers University concerned the nineteenth-century Southern novelist Augusta Jane Evans. I have studied literature extensively both as a researcher and as a professor, and I have incorporated literature into nearly all of the History courses that I have taught. I have previously tutored Literature students as well.
Philosophy Tutoring
I have incorporated philosophy into most of the History courses that I have taught. I am eminently familiar with a wide variety of philosophies and philosophical concepts from ancient to medieval to modern to postmodern. I have mentored students on papers related to philosophy numerous times.
AP English Tutoring
I was an English minor at the University of Virginia, I have taught a composition course, and I aced the AP English exam when I was in high school. I have taught, tutored, and numerous numerous students in English writing and literature.
Geography Tutoring
In my 18 years as a college professor, I have taught geography in all my History courses. I have extensive experience opening up the lessons and riches of geography to students.
AP History Tutoring

I also aced the AP US History and AP European History exams when I was in high school. Having taught hundreds of students throughout my 18 years as a history professor, I have extensive knowledge both of the field of history and of effective techniques for teaching it to students at a variety of levels.
SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring
I scored a perfect 800 on the SAT Verbal and excelled on the Writing section as well. Having written scores of academic papers and countless other writing pieces and additionally honed my verbal skills and knowledge as a college professor, I am ideally equipped to tutor students for the SAT Verbal/Writing.
Government Tutoring
I have incorporated extensive lessons about government and politics into all the History courses that I have taught in my 18 years as a professor. I have an extensive knowledge of government-related history, civics, and political theory and am adept and experienced at conveying this information to students and mentoring them with their papers and other projects on these subjects.
SAT Reading Tutoring
I have taught reading comprehension and critical reading skills in all the courses that I have taught as a professor, including College Composition, College Success, and all my History courses. I have previously served as a volunteer tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America. I have the knowledge and skills to mentor students in improving their reading comprehension and prepare them to excel on the SAT Reading.

I have also taught a College Composition course.
