I have tutored students one on one for many years. As we are going over homework, my main concern is that students are able to understand the material so they can master it on later assessments and in class.

I love working with students on reading comprehension. There are many great research based strategies that I use to ensure student success. I teach students how to 'dig' in the text in order to answer higher order questions that are required of them in the classroom setting.

Science Tutoring

I love science! I love explaining how and why things work they way they do. I have taught 2nd grade science for over ten years. My students could explain multiple topics to anyone who walked in our classroom. I currently teach 5th grade science with review of third and fourth grade standards. I am over the STEAM committee at my school!

Social Studies Tutoring

I can work with students on any elementary level in social studies. Social studies has a lot to do with reading comprehension. :)

Reading Tutoring

I love working with students on reading skills. There are many great research based strategies that I use to ensure student success. Whether we need to brush up on our phonics/fluency skills, or learn how to comprehend what we are reading. I have worked with students who were below kindergarten level and those who had middle school reading abilities.

STAAR Math Tutoring

I am familiar with STAAR testing. I administered this test for over 12 years to second grade students. My students had tremendous math growth, with some testing into middle school levels. Not only do students need to know their math content, but they need to be able to break down the questions that the test is giving.

Writing Tutoring

Does your student need help writing complete sentences, writing paragraphs, or adding details to their writing? It is so fun to teach writing and to show students that it really isn't that bad! :) After they get the basics down, students can see that writing is an avenue to allow them to express their thoughts to others.
