Fun Facts
I have a passion for traveling and spent my first four years as a math teacher abroad (in China and on a Norwegian ship). I love the challenge of living in a new place and experiencing a new culture. I also love doing anything outdoors, but my favorite sport is skiing.
About Me
I am a current PhD student at Arizona State University. After teaching math for five years, I decided to go back to school for Quantitative Research Methods in Psychology. I am a Teacher Assistant for the University and still enjoy teaching and tutoring students in math.
Experience
After completing my undergraduate degree in math with a teaching focus, I was a middle and high school math teacher at Tsinghua International School for three years. I had the opportunity to teach Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, PreCalculus, AP Statistics, and nonAP Statistics. Afterwards, I spent one year teaching for A+ World Academy teaching PreAP Geometry and Statistics and Algebra II while sailing the Atlantic Ocean. Approach
I have seen that students' math anxiety often hinders them from trying to solve problems and learn new math skills. I approach teaching and tutoring by showing students they DO have the skills they need to solve a problem and build their math confidence to help them overcome the anxiety they experience in math class.
