I went to a boarding school in high school called the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. We received a college-level STEM education and we didn't have school on Wednesdays!
I am the oldest of seven children and have been tutoring all my life.
About Me
I am a researcher and writer, with a broad range of academic interests and experiences, looking for part-time work while I work on receiving career certifications. In college, I studied Psychology and Sociology on a pre-medicine track and earned a 3.74 GPA. I have taken Calculus, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, and Sociology classes, and my ability to learn a variety of subjects allows me to be highly adaptable in workplaces. I have also studied Mandarin for six years, know several coding languages, and am a published researcher and creative writer.
Experience
In the 2023 - 2024 school year, I taught four writing classes as an Adjunct professor, two on the high school level and two on the college level. As a high school writing teacher, I taught fiction and multi-disciplinary storytelling. In my fiction classes, I taught students the basics of storytelling, and how to write compelling prose in the genres that interest them. Approach
As an instructor, I notice that when students don't have agency in their learning, they disengage. I improve learning outcomes by connecting subject matters to the things that students are most passionate about. For example, as a high school creative writing instructor at the Chicago High School for the Arts, I was given an infamously disengaged and hard-to-manage class.
