Fun Facts
I enjoy reading science and technical books. I also have an interest in brewing and soil science. Also enjoy scholarly pursuits.
About Me
I am a retired Chemistry Professor and taught courses in General Chemistry and remedial math for close to 25 years. I also did a small number of stints as a consultant for water filtration and soil science companies.
Experience
As an undergraduate student at SCU I tutored remedial math at the Math Learning Center on campus. As a graduate student at UIUC I was assigned to two discussion sessions per week to answer any questions students had for their General Chemistry course.
As a Professor, most of my teaching occurred in a classroom setting but I have experience teaching and tutoring students online.
Approach
I enjoy working with students on an individual basis or in small groups of 2 to 5 students. I strive to show students how to solve a problem using a step-by-step approach. I also do my best to provide explanations and examples which allow the student to gain confidence in approaching and solving problems. It is very satisfying to me when a student "gets it". I am also patient and respectful when working with students and am willing to go over material multiple times if necessary. Professor
