Fun Facts
I'm a huge fan of music! I know most people could probably say the same, but I feel as though somehow my passion for music runs deeper than the average person. Playing the guitar has been a hobby of mine for about a decade now. In high school and my early years of college, my friends and I would frequently play local shows or battle of the bands-like events. I take pride in my album collection and I believe it perfectly describes my life up to this point.
About Me
I am a senior at the University of Utah and I'm majoring in Chemistry. Most of my passion lies within the realm of biology, however I realized early in my studies that the key to obtaining an in-depth understanding biology is to have a solid foundation of chemical knowledge, so I pride myself in having a well rounded understanding of both topics. When I graduate, I hope to obtain a graduate degree in biochemistry and specialize in neurological research.
Experience
I acquired my associates degree (A.S.) in general studies from Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). During my enrollment at SLCC I became member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars for academic achievement. Last spring, I was added to the University of Utah's Dean's List for having an overall GPA above 3.5.
Approach
The lesson I would like to share with others is how to overcome the feelings of hopelessness that struggling in school can sometimes make you feel. When you realize that even the most complicated topics are built from a foundation of very simple principles, learning new concepts becomes a little less daunting. By breaking down complex concepts into simpler components, and then using the components you already understand to shed light on what you don't, I believe you can master any topic.
