About Me
I am a Hampton University alumna as of 2020. I earned my Master of Architecture degree, making the dean's list 6 times. My career goal is to become a LEED-certified Senior Structural Engineer. I am currently studying to take both of the certification exams.
Experience
During my senior year of high school, I became a member of the National Honors Society. I would meet my peers in the library during free periods to work on any subject they wanted to focus on. While in college a couple of classmates and I started a study group for our core classes. Working together brought out each of our strengths, allowing us to work on our leadership skills, and it made it fun and easy to keep each other accountable throughout the year.
Approach
I had a student who was not a big fan of math growing up. It was super challenging and no matter how hard they tried, they felt they could not get their grade above a C. I decided to propose a single problem to them in multiple ways. Once they understood the commonalities between the examples, math not only became easy for them, but it was also fun! Each subject is nothing more than a "new" language to a student. All they need is for someone to translate for them.
