Fun Facts

I am an advocate for experiential learning and social emotional learning. I like to be constantly active, experiencing the world around me and finding ways to better myself and give back to others. I love to travel and incorporate real world experiences into everything I do. I love the Arts! Music, dance, theatre, and art inspire me in all aspects of my life.

About Me

I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and am a graduate of Adelphi University. I am deeply focused on my education and educating others. This is why I am in pursuit of a career in Childhood education/new-york/manhattan">Special Education. My goal is to teach overseas in a home/school for at risk and special needs children. My dream is to teach in Costa Rica and Jamaica.

Experience

I was an America Reads/America Counts manhattan">tutor for four years (Freshman-Senior year). I also have experience in the classroom as a participant observer. I am currently a student teacher in a self contained 2nd/3rd grade classroom. I manhattan">tutor my peers as well as assist my cousin in Minnesota with with Mathematics. Although my availability is listed as only for weekends, I am willing to work on weekday evenings, depending on the commute, as I do not have a car.

Approach

My philosophy of education is based on Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences. All nine intelligences are promoted in my everyday teaching strategies. My background includes creating lessons and units based on these intelligences as well as on the New York State Common Core Learning Standards. I believe it is important for students to engage in experiential learning at an early age to help them develop as diverse learners.
