Fun Facts

I'm currently a one-man rock band, writing and recording my music and instrumentation. I've written two plays which were both produced, though I do think of my playwriting more as being sketch comedy, as opposed to theatre. The latter got me into acting, and I've since played nearly a dozen roles in roughly a half dozen plays. Between all of these things, I think I can safely say that writing and comedy are my two favorite things -- other than my lovely partner Emily, of course.

About Me

After many years as a farmer of organic produce on a small local farm, I've achieved a degree in cybersecurity and left my small hometown for a life in the city of Olympia. Life has been a continuous process of discovery, as challenging as it has been rewarding and meaningful.

Experience

Along with my degree in cybersecurity and being a lifelong technology user, I have also worked as an instructor in multiple capacities, including agricultural skills, meditation instructor, and theatre writer/director.

Approach

Teaching is a means of demonstrating the process by which a person learns. Didactic methods have their purpose, but I also find it essential to understand and adapt to the learning process of the individual, which may be more unique. To teach effectively, it's my job to understand the quality of thought processes, the natural proclivities, and the points of drive and inspiration of the student. From there, the approach is one of actively learning alongside the student through their perception.
