Fun Facts

Several things add meaning to my life: languages, writing, music and physical fitness! If I like a book, I will read it in several languages. Over the years, I have developed a unique style of writing poetry and lyrics for songs. I enjoy writing so much that I started writing a novel five months ago! Staying physically fit helps me feel more alive and motivated. This gives me even more creative energy to pursue my interests. Founder of university student org. for languages.

About Me

I graduated from Minnesota State University - Mankato; and majored in German and Spanish. GPA: 3.5. I spent my Junior Year in Munich. I earned a master's degree from Middlebury College German Graduate School - Middlebury, Vermont; with a GPA of 3.5. I am a certified teacher in Texas. My certifications include Chinese, German, Spanish, ESL and Bilingual Spanish.

Experience

I spent years teaching English in Taipei, Taiwan. While in Taipei, I studied Chinese and enrolled in Classical Chinese. My proficiency in speaking and writing enabled me to pass the ACTFL interview and writing tests which qualified me to teach in a public school in Texas.
I taught Mandarin Chinese in Texas public schools (middle and high school) for one year
I also taught for one year in a Dual Language program in Texas (4th grade).

Approach

Explain material in different ways. Differentiate lessons according to learners’ abilities and learning styles. Multiple exposure. Check for understanding. Gradually keep challenging the learner to strive for higher levels of achievement. Inject lessons with enthusiasm and some humor. Don’t forget to praise! Find out if a student truly understands or is learning the material by providing some kind of assessment. Be empathetic and patient. Give learners enough time to process information and to
