Fun Facts
I am originally from Montreal Canada but went to an American high school in Singapore! I was a competitive swimmer up until I went to college in Massachusetts. I have 2 cats (Spock and Frankie), and I love taking hikes!
About Me
I earned my first bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst in Building and Construction Technology where I excelled in my math and physics courses. I then worked in residential construction, creating detailed models and estimating materials for engineering projects. I recently decided to earn a second degree in engineering/connecticut/new-haven">Civil Engineering at connecticut-state-university">Central Connecticut State University because I want to pursue licensure as a professional engineer.
As a child, math was one of my toughest subjects. I often struggled to make sense of the problems and never felt like anyone could explain them in a way that clicked for me. That all changed in high school when a teacher had a breakthrough moment with me, and suddenly everything fell into place. Today, I’m passionate about math and physics, and I’m driven to help students who face the same challenges I did. I love finding ways to make complex concepts clear and relatable, so kids not only understand but also enjoy learning!
Experience
While at UMass Amherst, I served as a teaching assistant in 2020, where I guided college students through complex math concepts virtually over Zoom. This experience honed my ability to break down intricate topics into digestible, easy-to-understand steps. I currently tutor several students at connecticut-state-university">Central Connecticut State University in foundational engineering subjects, including math and physics, helping them build strong problem-solving skills and deep understanding.
Approach
My tutoring approach focuses on making math relatable by connecting abstract concepts (alphabet soup) to real-world situations. I help students move beyond the confusion of variables and equations by showing them how math applies to everyday life. I break down problems step by step, guiding students in identifying what’s being asked and what information is needed to solve it. Rather than just teaching solutions, I aim to build students’ critical thinking skills and confidence.
