Fun Facts
I love poetry and games. Just like students, I LOVE to have fun! I am the first in my family to attend and graduate from college. I enjoy drawing and painting during my free time.
About Me
I am a first-grade teacher at Pine Street Elementary School. I have been teaching first grade for five years now. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in education from the University of West Georgia in 2020. I graduated with my master's degree in education from the same university in 2023. I will be attending the University of West Georgia again starting this Fall, 2025, to earn my Specialist degree in education as well.
Experience
Throughout my undergrad term, I had the pleasure of working as a Tutor with America Reads/America Counts. During this time, I tutored in the subjects of reading and mathematics. I tutored for 3 years with this company, until I graduated. Also, I have had the pleasure of working with two online platforms as a tutor. I have tutored both remotely and in person for the subjects, including ELA, Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
Approach
As a child, I struggled with mathematics. However, I learned that I was thoroughly engaged when the learning was introduced to me in a way/concept I could connect with. Therefore, I strive to make learning fun! Students understand the learning and engage throughout the lesson when the learning appeals to their sense of knowledge and understanding. I implement game-based learning to the best of my ability to help students connect to the learning and build a deeper understanding.
