About Me

I adore reading, so when I was offered a library technician role at a K-8 school when I was 19, I was giddy with delight. I fell in love with inspiring others to read and write while in this role, and it inspired me to get my BA in Library Science so I could study to become a teacher librarian. Fast forward ten years, and I'm a substitute teacher who loves tutoring over breaks.

Experience

I have over ten years of experience as a paraprofessional working in schools as a library media technician or in the education/arizona/glendale">special education department. I have also substitute taught and enjoy helping students strengthen their reading and writing skills.

Approach

As a child, I struggled with reading and writing. It was embarrassing and frustrating to fall behind my classmates and pretend to understand stories, only to fail comprehension tests later on. Struggling with these foundational building blocks led to a rocky understanding of more complex standards as I got into middle school. I was reading and writing severely below my grade level when I had an incredible teacher who helped me strengthen those foundational skills before adding more weight on top
