Fun Facts
I'm a certified personal trainer. The subject material that most kids find boring in school is the documentaries I find enjoyment in learning in my downtime (Earth science, astronomy, history, etc.). When I'm able to find time, I enjoy learning primitive living/traditional survival skills.
About Me
I began pursuing my associate's degree in mechanical engineering at the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I'm currently transferring those credits to Miami Dade College to complete the remaining requirements. Afterwards, I plan to pursue my bachelor's degree overseas in Europe to gain new experiences.
Experience
Becoming a father in 2008 led to my having the opportunity to take on a parental role with two stepchildren. This included assisting with homework across all subjects from 4th - 9th grade. When my daughter began school, I continued providing academic support, focusing on her core subjects. In college, math became a subject I viewed as simply a puzzle that needed to be unlocked. In my time, writing is a hobby that clears my head at times when I may be stressed, and it helps me gain insight.
Approach
I excelled in school early on with little effort, but as I grew more rebellious, my self-esteem around education dropped, and so did my grades. Returning to college later in life, I discovered I could succeed when I was simply present and willing to learn. The diverse teaching styles of my professors showed me that what works for one person may not work for another. Combined with life experience, this shaped my approach to teaching. Understanding other people's perspectives is crucial.
