Fun Facts

I have wanted to teach since I was about ten years old.
I have two furbabies - Luna and Ruby Rollins.
I was selected to attend Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts, where I was a visual arts major and developed a passion for photography, architecture, interior design, and drawing.

About Me

I am an elementary school teacher. I recently moved from Brooklyn, NY, to my birthplace, Charlotte, NC, to teach at a school I once attended. My goal as an educator is to provide literacy instruction that will strengthen the communication skills we all need to be prosperous in life.

Experience

In addition to my undergraduate and graduate studies, I have been teaching officially in different capacities since I was seventeen years old. I began with early childhood, teaching and tutoring toddlers between the ages of 2 and 5. More recently, I have been teaching school-age children between the ages of 5 and 10. I specialize in discussing content (mainly language arts and math) that my students are struggling with to help them reveal deeper understanding and confidence.

Approach

I have attended school in many settings - parochial, private, public, and charter. I know what it is like to feel confident and be at the top of my class, as well as what it is like to feel insecure and hopeless while trying desperately to succeed and understand. I notice that a majority of our time as students is spent learning new things, but plenty of that time should be spent learning how to study and learning how to make the content we receive meaningful so that we can absorb it all.
