Fun Facts
One of the things that I love doing the most besides working in a lab, is cooking. I love expressing the love to my family and friends through food and the art of cooking. I enjoy family time, reading good book, and learn about nature. I love animals and although I don't have a pet at the moment, I would like to have one some day once again
About Me
I work as an Adjunct Instructor at the College of Staten Island Chemistry Department. Also, I work in a chemistry research laboratory and for 8 years I have been responsible for the training the new undergraduate research assistants and the lab safety officer.
I have a Master's Degree in Environmental Science and one day I would love to become a Environmental Chemist to find solutions to some of the environmental problems.
I like to provide real life examples when tutoring, it helps a lot!
Experience
As a student in the Office of Access and Success Programs, I had the opportunity to tutor high school students every Saturday. It was an opportunity to sharpen my mentoring skills as well as my tutoring skills. I also worked at Curtis High School as a teaching assistant to students in the 10, 11 and 12 grades. I have also tutored for the Chemistry Department for students at the 100 and 200 level. Privately, though, I have tutored students in organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry.
Approach
As a student, I always appreciated my teachers showing me passion and love for what they did, and that's exactly my approach to tutoring/teaching.I also felt that giving me real life examples always helped me understand those concepts that were giving me problems. I am very passionate about science and math and I love the fact that I can make a difference in the lives of the students. I know that if i can get to influence the students's interests, they can be successful in and out of school
