Fun Facts
One passion that I have is playing percussion in the band, which I have done ever since I was in third grade. I also have a ten-year-old dog and an older sister. I have also travelled to sixteen different states throughout my lifetime.
About Me
I am a current UCLA student who is double-majoring in psychobiology and statistics. I hope to attend medical school after I graduate to eventually become a psychiatrist.
Experience
I was a peer tutor in junior and senior year of high school, where I privately tutored students in a variety of subjects, primarily including mathematics courses such as algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, trigonometry, and precalculus. I also have had a position as a merit badge instructor at the Newport Sea Base, where I taught classes to Scouts relating to topics such as chemistry, electricity, communications, cooking, and emergency preparedness.
Approach
As a student in school, I noticed that students tended to be much less engaged when there was a lack of active participation. As a result, when I have taught and tutored students, I have made sure to directly ask students questions relating to the course material to ensure that they are retaining the information that I am explaining to them. In a class setting, I also make an effort to call on students who may appear disengaged or distracted, which would ensure that they are still paying attention
