Fun Facts
I have a passion for playing the electric guitar and enjoy learning new songs across a variety of genres, including rock, blues, and jazz. I have two dogs named.
About Me
I completed my undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Following graduation, I pursued a post-baccalaureate program in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Currently, I am an MD/PhD student at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UT Health SA), where I recently earned my PhD in Molecular Immunology and Microbiology. While awaiting reentry into medical school next year, I am working as a research associate in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UT Health SA.
Experience
During my undergraduate studies, I volunteered as a Supplemental Instructor for Organic Chemistry II for two semesters. As a post-baccalaureate and graduate student, I have continued mentoring trainees at various levels—including high school, undergraduate, and graduate students—in subjects such as cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, and immunology.
Approach
Throughout my education, I struggled with English writing and literature courses. Unfortunately, many people criticized my difficulties in these areas without offering guidance on how to improve. This made engaging in English writing especially daunting. Fortunately, I met a faculty member who cared and took the time to teach me how to become a stronger writer. As a tutor, I hope to do the same for others—guiding students toward the right answers while helping them build confidence.
