Fun Facts

I absolutely love to coach gymnastics. I did the sport when I was a little girl. Now I coach girls that are between the ages of 7 to 15. I have also taught preschool level gymnastics. I had over 12 Private Lesson clients when I lived in Texas. I coach every day in the afternoons. I strongly believe in doing what I love. I have found that as long as I am doing something that brings me joy. I never have to work a day in my life.

About Me

I am 38 years old and knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in the fifth grade. When I attended the University of Arizona, I declared my major and never changed it. I have worked with kids in some capacity for most of my life. I have been a mentor and advocate through the Miss America organization. I am fun, kind, empathetic, and creative. I know that I shine the brightest when I’m teaching.
My husband and I have a non-biological 18-year-old daughter who just entered her freshman year at the University of Arizona. At one point, this little girl was a fourth-grade student of mine. We built a very strong connection. When her mother told me that she could no longer take care of her, my husband and I decided that we could care for her until her mother found an apartment. Unfortunately, her mother never did. We have raised this little girl from the age of 12, and it has been a wild ride.
My husband and I moved to Austin, Texas, so that I could attend The University of Texas at Austin to get my master's degree in social work. Besides having a love for learning, I knew that this degree could only help me become a better teacher. I am a dedicated and hard-working person. I am dependable. I was also noticed by my colleagues and principal for always creating a safe learning environment. My passion in life is to bring education to others.

Experience

I am originally from New Mexico. I moved to Arizona for my undergraduate degree. There I met my husband. I stayed in Tucson for three years after I graduated. I spent one year doing volunteer work around the state of Arizona. During the year, I served as a Children’s Miracle liaison. I volunteered at numerous events that supported the Children’s Miracle Network. I volunteered with an organization called Stand-Up for Kids. This was a very special experience because I got to know the kids who have

Approach

I remember my first year as a teacher. I remember thinking that if I didn’t do this right, these students would end up without a strong educational foundation. The fundamentals are so important. At the same time, I realize that every single student is very different. I learned along the way that stressing myself out was not beneficial for anyone. Instead, I learned how to meet a student where they are. Each student will move at their own speed. That is normal! My approach with children is to mee
