Fun Facts
One of my favorite things to do is read novels, however not many know how much I love to dance! I started training at 3 years old and continued until my senior year of high school. I was also born and raised in the Caribbean so I'll take dancing on the beach over pretty much anything!
About Me
I am a Junior English major with a minor in Journalism. I currently reside in D.C. as a student at Howard University. My dream job would be lounging around reading unfitted manuscripts and then working with people to develop and publish their novels. So realistically speaking my main goal is to become an editor for a publishing company.
Experience
I am a mentor for the U.S. Dream Academy here in D.C., so I mentor and washington-dc">tutor at-risk elementary school kids weekly. I'm also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an English honor society so I frequently spend my time working with students of all majors on developing their papers and essays here on campus.
Approach
Growing up I loved to read, however I hated writing. I believe there are many writing styles just as there are teaching styles. It is important to help students figure out what works for them before they are discouraged and begin to "hate" certain subjects. Instead of giving answers I think it is important for students to be comfortable with the material as well as knowledgeable on the best ways to approach a seemingly difficult problem.
