Fun Facts

Being born and raised in New York City has given me the opportunity of meeting faces of those from around of world. I'm completely enthralled by world cultures which sparked my innate traveling inclination. I also like to paint, draw, hula hoop and read. I enjoy having conversations about controversial books.

About Me

I am a senior English for Secondary Education major at Hunter College. I've been on the deans list for five semesters in a row--first two at Stony Brook University, and three at Hunter College. I am also minoring in Theatre Arts. My plan on finishing my undergraduate degree and proceed to graduate school to obtain my master's degree in English Secondary Education (7-12). My ultimate goal is to become a high school teacher.

Experience

Through high school I worked at various tutoring programs servicing children from kindergarten to fifth grade in various subject areas such as math, English and writing. Upon entering college and declaring my major, I started to shift my gear towards education again. I am currently an intern at Tada! Youth Theater which gears its initiatives towards using theater as a different approach to draw in academics ultimately engaging, focusing and developing students' self-confidence.

Approach

Many schools lack resources for one-on-one interaction between the educator and the student. One-on-one approaches in education helps me to understand the individual I am working with--not just another number in a classroom. My goal is to give the intended care my students deserve and incorporate their personalities into the learning lesson as a motivator to make learning easy to understand and enjoyable. Communication is the key to success!
