Fun Facts
I'm really interested in all things music: playing a lot of instruments ranging in their level of random (drums, guitar, glockenspiel, etc.), supporting local music, and going to concerts on a pretty regular basis. If I'm not doing something musical, I'm probably running around somewhere. Occasionally you may find me baking some of my snicker doodles, which I've been told are pretty good!
About Me
I am a freshman at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, I'm double majoring in English Language and Literature (with a sub concentration in Creative Writing and Teacher Certification) and Informatics. I'm from San Pedro, California, born and raised my entire life (up to college). After my undergrad years, I hope to pursue graduate studies (either an MFA or Ph.D.)in English and eventually teach at both the high school and university levels.
Throughout my high school years, I tutored extensively all 4 years. I participated in my school's local tutoring program and through key club, tutoring people with whatever they needed help with, ranging from Calculus to AP Literature and Composition. I'm excited to be tutoring again.
My tutoring approach really focuses on empathizing with the student, so that everyone is on the same ground in terms of understanding. I think it's important for the student to realize that, at one point or another, everyone has struggled with a subject. Once reaching a level of comfort and common ground, I'm very persistent in making sure the student is successful in whatever he/she is pursuing, I want to see the people I'm tutoring not only successful, but happy and content with whatever they're doing.
