Fun Facts
I am a firm believer in the idea that once you find your passion, you must do everything within your power to pursue it. I love literature and believe I have found my calling as a teacher. I love to use reading and writing as a tool to help individuals find self awareness, analyze and question the world around them, and fight for social justice.
About Me
I was an English teacher for the NYC Board of Education for 10 years. I just recently moved to Miami and am working on writing my dissertation. I hope to teach full time in a university within the next year.
Experience
I have taught for the NYC Board of Education for the past 10 years. I have taught all grade levels, 9-12, with a focus on journalism, ELA Regents Prep, English Honors, and American Literature. During my time as a teacher, I was an advisor to the high school newspaper and guided students to write fact based international and news articles for our school newspaper. I have also been an adjunct at St. John's University.
Approach
I truly love teaching all types of students, from those struggling with reading-comprehension/florida/miami">reading comprehension to honors students who are writing research papers. I am passionate about reading and writing, incredibly patient, and always aim to guide students so they can find the tools needed to succeed independently. I find working 1-1 with students is one of the best ways to build relationships which foster an ongoing, lifelong love of learning.
