About Me
I am a senior at Arizona State University and I am majoring in education/arizona/phoenix">Special Education and Elementary Education. I have had a wonderful experience student teaching for a year-long program called iTeach America. I will be graduating in May with this dual certification. My goal is to become a education/arizona/phoenix">Special Education teacher at an elementary school in Arizona in the fall.
Upon entering the iTeach America program, I have had extensive experience phoenix">tutoring. My sophomore year I participated in a phoenix">Tutor Club for elementary students, focusing primarily on reading. My junior year, I was able to intern in a 6th grade classroom, as well as a education/arizona/phoenix">Special Education High School setting where I did a lot of one on one phoenix">tutoring with the students. This past year I have student taught in a 2nd grade classroom, as well as a education/arizona/phoenix">Special Education classroom ranging from grades 1st-4th. I also volunteer for an after school homework club for elementary students.
As for my phoenix">tutoring approach, I like to begin by finding out what the student is interested in and how they learn so that I am able to keep them motivated. I take an approach where I do not tell the students exactly how to find the answer, but rather guide them in the right direction to figure out how to solve it. It is important to me that students learn how to believe in themselves and become invested in their own learning. I understand that all students learn differently, and I do my best to find ways for every child to learn and become successful in school.
