Fun Facts
One of my favorite hobbies is SCUBA diving. The summer before my senior year of undergrad I decided to look for a job that I would love and was lucky enough to get one in the Florida Keys. I worked with kids between 12 and 17 teaching them about marine conservation and how to SCUBA dive. It was a blast watching many of the kids sit on the bottom of the ocean floor and marvel at the world around them. It's a feeling that doesn't go away no matter how often you go, one of the reasons I love it!!
About Me
I am currently a graduate student in the Environmental and Molecular Toxicology PhD program at North Carolina State University. The lab that I am conducting research in is a neuroendocrine lab with an interest in elucidating how chemicals we are exposed to every day may impact endocrine signaling in the brain. I am excited to say I have been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA and have had the privelege of mentoring 4 undergraduates in our lab. I hope to stay in academia and become a professor some day.
Experience
As an undergraduate I had the opportunity to raleigh">tutor students in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Organic Chemistry and to TA for chemistry labs for two years. The raleigh">tutoring experience is a unique one as you truly feel as though you are helping someone achieve their goals and reach their full potential in a subject area that you are passionate for. Since starting at graduate school I have been eager to work with students again, and I think Frog raleigh">Tutoring is the perfect way to do so.
Approach
When I was really young I was fascinated by nature and biology! By the time I reached high school my interest in biology had dwindled as courses became tougher. However, as an undergraduate I was fortunate to have biology and chemistry professors who were so passionate about the subject that you couldn't help but feel that way too!! As a raleigh">tutor, I want other students to see my passion for the subject and to see how even when it's hard gaining that knowledge is so rewarding!

I have not formally tutored for these courses as they are more specialized/specific courses. However, many of the topics covered have given me a greater understanding for biology and chemistry as a whole increasing the material I feel comfortable with. At this point I feel as though if an undergraduate needed a tutor in any of these areas I would have the skills to do so.
