Fun Facts

I enjoy playing sports including, hockey, skiing, basketball, and lacrosse. I also like being in the outdoors: camping and canoeing are some of my hobbies. Recently I have finished reading a series of fiction books titled A Song of Ice and Fire. I am a subscriber to 'The Economist' and I think that it is important to stay updated on world news. Although hanging out with my friends are important to me I always value my alone time and the time I spend with my family.

About Me

I consider myself to be a calm, happy-go-lucky individual. I am a little shy when I first meet someone, but after some time I do open up. My attitude will always be positive even if I have had a bad day. I enjoy working with kids and I am excited to have the opportunity to teach them. I am a senior at the denver">University of Denver. My goal after graduation would be to start my own company.

I have worked at a camp for 5 years, where I have been a counselor for boys from the age of 11-16. At camp I teach water skiing and I run the camping program. Working at camp has allowed me to learn how to help kids flourish in their own way. I also tutored my younger brother when he needed help in all areas of school. These experiences have taught me to be patient and confident when working with students.

From working at camp I have learned to work collaboratively with kids to help them succeed. Allowing the individual to figure out their specific path to success while guiding them is my strategy. It is also important for me to make learning enjoyable for the student. By helping students to realize the purposes of each subject, hopefully I will get them to be excited about class. It is also important for me to be a step ahead of my student. This way I can help the student remain a step ahed of their classmates. Using positive encouragement is key to my teaching strategy.
