As a poet as well as a political science major in college I find myself reading and/or writing or reviewing written work every day. I have had a wide range of writing experience from short concise essays, to haiku poems, to 30 page research papers. This amount of writing has not only opened my understanding up to new and improved ways to express myself, but gives me a deeper range of comprehension to be able to teach others.

As a political science major I have to have a wide knowledge of various histories from many countries, especially the United States. I have learned how to connect history that is presented to different students' interest in order to maintain their attention and help them retain the information more.

I have tutored at KIPP STRIVE for about 3 years and have had a large variety of students to have the opportunity to work with. This wide range of varying needs has allowed me to become fluid when determining how best to motivate a student from their perspective.

As a political science major there are many times where I am required to read large volumes of text and extract crucial information in a short amount of time. Through this I have gotten very skilled at reading comprehension and assisting others in incorporating these methods for their own use. In addition I am an avid reader and naturally have developed an analytical mindset through wanting to have a deeper understanding of what I read.

My mother is a chemist who has worked for pharmaceutical companies since I was born and due to this I have had an abnormal amount of exposure to all forms of science. In addition, I attended City of Medicine Academy for high school which was based in science and medical knowledge which furthered my knowledge base on science in terms of biology and anatomy.
