About Me

Hi, my name is Ryan Khemraj and I am a junior in the Macaulay Honors Program at brooklyn-college">Brooklyn College. I am a dual chemistry and economics major and an aspiring physician. I am the treasure of the Global Medical Brigades, the philanthropy chair Kappa Sigma Fraternity at brooklyn-college">Brooklyn College, and a research assistant at a Biochemistry Lab at brooklyn-college">Brooklyn College. Although my commitments are limited, I am very passionate about each of them and giving my full effort in making them successful.

Over my academic career, I have tutored both peers and family members on topics ranging from basic elementary school math and reading-comprehension/new-york/new-york">reading comprehension to college leveled calculus and biochemistry. I feel that each experience has made me grow as a tutor and learn about the idea of teaching. My main area of focus has been SAT Math, and all pre med sciences including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

I believe that most important aspect of tutoring is understanding the students needs including their areas of weakness and most importantly, their style of study. I have had many students that prefer certain styles of learning whether it be using flash cards, practice quizzes, etc. I try to be a good listener so that any struggle of the student does not remain unaddressed.

Experience

As an honors student throughout high school, I was privileged many opportunities to serve as a peer mentor and tutor to underclassmen. This experience helped me gained leadership skills and understand the weaknesses and needs of the student. In addition, in my undergraduate career, I have tutored friends and family members for subjects ranging from basic english to advanced physics. I believe that my experiences have made me a well-rounded tutor with a skill set to impact the lives of students.

Approach

As a pre-medical student, I have experienced and struggled through the many rigorous course this track entails including organic chemistry and biochemistry. I believe the most important factor in helping me overcome the hurdles in these classes was knowing myself and what type of learner and student I was. Similarly, this is the approach that I like to take when evaluating a student. It is important to identify the individual students best style of learning and weaknesses for the best results.
